Securing Your Byline: Ensuring Your Name is Never Lost in Print

Seeing your name in print can be a real thrill. It can also be incredibly useful for your portfolio.

Don’t lose that byline

Seeing your name in print can be a real thrill. It can also be incredibly useful for your portfolio.

There are times, however, when your byline (literally the bit that says “by Judy Yorke”) gets accidentally left off an article - and that can be really annoying to say the least.

Of course, you can’t prevent that happening but here’s a tip to lessen the chances.

When you send in copy, write your own byline on it. So under your headline, just write “by xx”. It’s less likely to go accidentally missing that way as a sub or someone else will need to physically delete it. It also lessens the chance of your name appearing with an incorrect spelling, something which is also very irritating!
